AN ILLUSTRATED HANDBOOK OF MOUNT VERNON
THE HOME OF WASHINGTON
COPYRIGHT, 1899, BY HARRISON H. DODGE
PUBLISHED BY L. WINDSOR HOUSE
A double-stapled 48-page oblong booklet, the publication is richly illustrated with 23 full-page black-and-white photographs and one smaller in-text image and features text by Harrison Howell Dodge (1852-1937), the third superintendent of the Washington home at Mount Vernon.
The overall condition of this handbook is very good. There's very slight corner-bumping, edgewear, vertical creases, etc., to the gray wrapper, which has a raised gilt title on the front cover. The glossy pages within are age-toned / darkened but clean and unmarked by human hands, with no annotations, marginalia, underlining, scribbles, etc.
There's some spotting, smudging, etc., on a few pages within. Also, there's some rusting of the two silver-tone metal staples, with browning of the adjacent paper at the centerfold.
