Looking to add a bit of SPLASH to your pasture, look no farther than Cookie!
Located in Greene, NY.
A beautiful 16 year old splash dun mare.
Cookie is grade, but would still make a fabulous show or trail partner for just about anyone.
Cookie is barefoot, if riding on hard rocky roads I’d recommend boots or front shoes.
she is a minimum of 16 hands, I have not measured her.
Cookie is just finishing up her 60 day refresher, she was ridden around by kids and then sat for 8 years.
She will WTC under saddle and on the lunge, and is more whoa than go. She is not a dead head though and will speed up when asked.
Due to sitting and only having a 60 day refresher I’d recommend an intermediate/ advanced rider or a consistent training program. She’s very smart and picks ques up fast.
Picks up her correct leads when transitioning to the lope, she also has started leg yielding. She’s not fancy broke by any means. She can sit for a week and I can saddle her up and walk off with no funny business. No buck, bolt, rear.
Cookie is UTD on farrier, teeth, coggins, and vaccines for the year.
She has been around chickens, sheep, dogs, cows, cats, and goats. She is used to rigs and tractors as well.
Respects fencing and high in the pecking order.
Can be out 24’7 or stalled, she is also an easy keeper.
CONS🔴
🔴Cookie can get buddy sour when left out unhandled. She does tend to have anxiety in the cross ties as well, but will single tie anywhere and be calm. We have been working on it.
Being she has sat for so long, she’s not as conditioned as she should be. She is 100x more fit that when she first arrived.
🔴With her sitting as long as she has, she will drop her shoulder in at the trot and lope, which is why I’d recommend a more advanced rider. With more work I 100% can can this mare as a kids horse.
Photos don’t do this girl justice, she is a BEEFCAKE.
I will send my number when I know it’s not spam in email. I have riding videos as well.
