Chance is a 12–13-year-old Paint gelding, standing 14 hands high, with a strong work ethic, plenty of energy, and a smart, willing personality. I’ve owned him for 3 years and have put consistent riding and real-world experience into him. He started as a project horse and has made solid progress, but he is not a beginner horse and requires a confident, capable rider.
Chance is very forward and athletic, with more “go” than “whoa.” He thrives when he has a job to do and enjoys staying busy. He has been used multiple times to move cattle and has proven to be fast, responsive, and willing—even over long distances through open fields, creeks, and steep terrain!
He has primarily been ridden Western and is trail-ready, but he is not a leisurely trail horse. He prefers purpose and work over casual riding and rides out alone or with other horses without issue. He can navigate trails, logs, creeks, and puddles, though larger obstacles may require encouragement. He can stop, turn, and maneuver through trail obstacles, though he can become a bit antsy if required to stand for long periods.
Chance is barefoot, sound, and has no known health issues or history of injury. He lives outside 24/7 on a hay-only diet and is an easy keeper. He would benefit from consistent exercise!
On the ground, Chance is calm, affectionate, and intelligent. He leads well, loads, ties, bathes, and hauls well, and is good for the vet and farrier. Under saddle or bareback, he is spirited, energetic, and forward-thinking—truly a horse with two personalities: calm and loving on the ground, athletic and driven when ridden.
Chance would be best suited for a trainer, ranch rider, or confident teen/adult looking for a forward, athletic project horse. He is not suitable for beginners or timid riders.
