One of Cream of the Crop Transportation's contractors has an opening coming up for his 2004 379 Pete and low pro step deck with ramps. The truck in in excellent condition, and has a brand new remanufactured 3406E.
You can have total control over your load choices as long as you are producing the numbers needed to keep the truck profitable. Our primary outbound freight goes to the Pacific Northwest, AZ, and TX, and is typically 2 week turnaround, but we do have local short haul work out of SE PA, and gas well work in Northern PA, as well, to fill in any gaps that you can choose to do.
Our insurance requires minimum of 23 years old, 3 years experience, good MVR and at least some flatbed experience. This contractor is a well-experienced flatbed driver, along with a lot of oversize and overweight experience, so he can help through through any learning curves with anything you haven't tackled yet. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply providing that they can meet CDL-A requirements and are capable of doing the work required.
We don't typically advertise for drivers for our contractors, but Matt is one of the nicest guys you'll meet, and he is unquestionably the best freight negotiator I've had out of hundreds of drivers in my long career. If you aspire to become and owner operator at some point, you will be learning from the best, and this would be a perfect opportunity to learn and build your business from before investing in a truck, and we offer a great owner operator package once you're ready to pull the trigger with 90% of the gross and some of the very best fuel discounts in the industry. But if being an O/O is not in your wheelhouse, you will still get treated with the same fairness and respect as our O/O's.
Matt is a disabled Army vet, and as honest as the day is long. He keeps his equipment in great shape.
The truck, are current freight rates, is running $8K to $10K per week gross, and starting pay is 25% of 100% of the company gross, including fuel surcharges, not Matt's truck's gross, or some fictitious number as many companies do, Guaranteed minimum of $1300 per week as long as driver is available for work. You will get the rate confirmation directly from each customer, and you can learn to do the negotiating yourself, so you have full control over what loads you choose and what they pay.
When freight gets back to normal levels, $12K to $15K per week gross has been the norm. In peak markets, our flatbeds averaged $4.35 per mile for all miles, or $1.085 permile to the driver. Rates are not there yet, but definitely headed in that direction.
So, right now, at current rates, driver pay will range from $2000 to $2500 per week, and when things stabilize you can expect it to run as high as $3750 per week. In mileage pay, that figures out to between .67 and $1 per mile for line haul, but can reach as high as $1.50 per mile, and even higher on short and oversize loads.
Driver will get paid per deim which is deducted from driver gross pay, before taxes are deducted, which puts you in a lower tax bracket. Then it is added back on to your weekly settlement, tax-free. The benefit to the driver averages around an additional $200 per week.
If you're in it for the long haul, this is a great family operation to get hooked up with that you can call home, and even build your business from for your entire career. We just turned 16 years old, and while many have retired from here, our oldest contractor has been here for 15 1/2 of those years. We are a patriot and Christian-run company, and welcome veterans. Due to some of our work, we require natural-born citizenship, English as first language, must be able to pass military background checks. If you don't have a TWIC card, you will have to get one eventually, and a passport for Canadian travel is a plus, although not a prerequisite for employment.
Give Matt a call today and he can get the approval process started. 570-606-5494
